The Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race

What a thrill it was to be accepted to participate in the adventure of a lifetime – the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. I’ve completed the initial training (that's me pictured at the helm). I can’t tell you how exciting it is to be part of this amazing challenge!

When the starting gun sounds in August 2011 the fleet of ten sleek, stripped down 68-foot yachts will embark on 40,000 miles of ocean racing during a full circumnavigation.

There's no doubt that this race involves pushing one’s limits and testing one’s strength and stamina. The participants come from all walks of life, all backgrounds and from all corners of the globe. I'm told it is an experience that changes people’s lives.

This blog is designed to allow you to follow my adventures and spread the message about my fund-raising efforts (more on that later). The race, which takes eleven months to complete, is divided in to a series of eight legs. I have signed up as a “round the world crew member” and will complete the full circumnavigation. The route takes us round two of the three 'great capes' – the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Leeuwin.

I've enlisted some IT/PR help for the blog. I will be posting regular updates from around the globe and hopefully it will be a colourful and action-packed story.

Follow me for an adventure of a lifetime!
